Drink Seaweed To Lose Weight

Scientists at Unilever have managed to incorporate a dietary fiber made from brown seaweed called alginate into beverages. Once alginate hits the acidic pH of your stomach, it morphs into a thick gel that keeps you feeling full for longer. (Sounds SO appetizing . . .) In a new study , volunteers who downed a breakfast shake made with 2 grams of alginate were 20 to 30 percent less hungry over the next 5 hours compared to a group given a placebo with a similar amount of a different fiber. 40 Days and 40 Nights...

40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS… Can I do this? Am I strong enough? 40 days or just about 6 weeks without meat and FaceBook. That was the pledge I made on Ash Wednesday, March 9, 2011. I love food and I love meat. I also found that I was becoming increasingly attached to FB. It would be difficult to part with both but that in my opinion is what Lent is all about, sacrifice and resistance to temptation. I embarked on my journey in faith. FACEBOOK On the eve of Ash Wednesday at 10:19 pm I updated my FB status: “Lent: no meat or FB. Link me by email/text/tele if needed. Praying for strength, patience and perseverance”, the following day I deactivated my FB account. When I saw the “deactivation” message I was sad, it meant that for awhile I would not be connected to “my friends”. I removed the app from my phone and tried hard not to think about it. Week 2 was easier and each day after was better. I did not miss Facebook, I actually started to appreciate not having the distraction around. I sta...
